Health Food Shopping List - Alkaline Foods

Living according to an alkaline, healthy diet low on calories makes sense in many ways, especially regarding the reduced intake of animal protein and fatty acids. Eating on the run, consuming hot dogs, muffins, pizzas etc., is extremely unhealthy, because these are ALL acid forming and acid producing foods!

Studies have shown that an acidic, anaerobic body environment encourages the breeding of fungus, mold, bacteria, and viruses. As a result, our inner biological environment shifts from a healthy oxygenated, alkaline environment to an unhealthy acidic one (having acidic pH levels on the pH scale).

75% Alkaline Foods

It is a lot of "hard work" for the body to neutralize and detoxify these acids before they can act as poisons in and around the cells, ultimately changing the environment of each cell. Therefore, one should consume at least 75% of alkaline foods, like green vegetables, and never more than 20-25% of neutral and acidifying foods, like burgers or sandwiches. Eating foods that are alkaline transforms the body's balance from dangerously acidic to slightly above neutral.

However, one might feel confused or unsure about what kinds of alkaline foods to buy. This sample shopping list helps one to know what kinds of healthy alkaline foods typically stock the fridge:

Refrigerated: Borage Oil, Fresh salsa (no vinegar), Flax seed oil, Hummus, Sprouted Wheat Tortillas, Tofu, Udo's Choice-Perfected Oil Blend

Legumes: Adzuki, Black, Black-eyed, Cranberry, Garbanzo, Kidney, Lentils, Mung, Pinto

Produce:

Avocado, Beets, Bell peppers, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Chard, Cucumber, Dark lettuce, Eggplant, Garlic, Herbs (fresh), Jicama, Kale, Leeks, Lemon, Lime, Onion, Parsley, Red, new potatoes, Seasonal fruit (only when in acid-alkaline balance), Spinach, Squash, Tomato, Zucchini

Nuts/Seeds:

Almonds, Brazil nuts, Flax seeds, Filberts, Macadamia nuts, Pecans (seasonal), Pine nuts, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Walnuts (seasonal), *all nuts/seeds should be raw and unsalted

Freezer:

Boca burgers (vegan), Manna bread (Sun seed or Whole Wheat)

Seafood/Meat:

Salmon, Trout, Free range turkey (only on rare occasions)

Salts:

Bragg's Amino Liquid, Sea Salt, Real Salt Brand

Health Food Section

Almond butter, Almond milk, Amaranth, Basmati rice, Brown rice cakes, Buckwheat, Dulse flakes, Flours (spelt, millet, amaranth, etc), Grape Seed Oil, Kamut, Millet, Olive oil, Quinoa, Rotini (quinoa, spelt), Soba noodles (rice or buckwheat), Spelt, Soymilk, Sprouts (any), Sun-dried tomatoes (in olive oil), Tahini, Vegetable broth (yeast-free), Wild rice

The entire metabolic process depends on an alkaline environment. When we consume too many acidic or acid-producing foods, excess acid corrodes tissues and organs and thus provides a favorable environment for harmful bacteria and other micro organisms that can damage glands and organs.

New Levels Of Healthiness & Energy

A healthy diet with alkaline food supports vital cellular activities and functions and will create new levels of healthiness and energy. Alkaline foods are rich in nutrients for the body and an excellent source of the substances that are anti-yeast, anti-fungal, and anti-mycotoxic. Alkaline green foods are some of the lowest-calorie and lowest-sugar foods you can get and are very cleansing and loaded with fiber.

Balance-pH-Diet.com informs people about the over-acidification of the body due to fast paced and unhealthy lifestyles, which is the reason for many diseases and weight gain.

Alkaline Foods - Include This List Of High Alkaline Foods In Your Diet

What is an alkaline diet?

What happens- When we eat, our food gets digested, absorbed, and metabolized, and then it releases either an acid or an alkaline base (bicarbonate) into our blood.

Alkaline levels in our body

Our blood is somewhat alkaline, consisting of a normal pH level between 7.35 and 7.45. An acidic diet disrupts this balance and encourages the loss of essential minerals like potassium, magnesium, calcium, and sodium, as the body tries to restore balance and this imbalance makes you prone to numerous chronic diseases.

Alkaline Foods

An alkaline diet prevents the formation of calcium kidney stones, osteoporosis, and age-related muscle wasting. So to stay from these physical problems, here is a list of alkaline foods that you need to include in your diet:

1. Almonds

2. Yogurt

3. Raw milk

4. Soy milk

5. Wheat grass

6. Germ grass

7. Honey

8. Herbal tea

9. All fruits except Cranberries

10. Melons and Grapes- These are the foods high in alkaline

11. Lemon- Though sour in taste yet not acidifying- Lemonade made with stevia and sea salt is highly alkaline and very refreshing

12. Quinoa, Amaranth, Millet, Buckwheat (grains)- All other grains are highly acidic in nature and should not be taken

Fruits and vegetables if eaten raw also provide a dual purpose of not only energy but also fiber. The heart, the brain, the blood cells, the liver, the kidney all require a body pH of 7.4 for a smooth and optimal functioning. Only a diet rich in high alkaline foods can insure that this natural alkaline body pH is restored. Only a diet rich in high alkaline foods a diet rich in high alkaline foods is completely opposite to what most of us eat today.

Alkaline Foods - Must For A Balanced Diet

Consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables has decreased giving rise to the Western acid-producing diet. Something or the other has to be done to control it otherwise the results will be too disastrous for us to imagine.

Now what is an alkaline diet?

What happens- When we eat, our food gets digested, absorbed, and metabolized, and then it releases either an acid or an alkaline base (bicarbonate) into our blood.

Alkaline levels in our body

Our blood is somewhat alkaline, consisting of a normal pH level between 7.35 and 7.45. An acidic diet disrupts this balance and encourages the loss of essential minerals like potassium, magnesium, calcium, and sodium, as the body tries to restore balance and this imbalance makes you prone to numerous chronic diseases.

If you have noticed the following symptoms in you, then alkaline diet is strongly recommended for you:

1. Lack of energy

2. Excessive mucous production

3. Nasal congestion

4. Frequent colds and flu

5. Anxiety, nervousness, irritability

6. Ovarian cysts, polycystic ovaries, benign breast cysts

7. Headache

Acidic Foods

1. Meats and oils

2. Jams

3. Butter

4. Cookies

5. Frozen foods

6. Ice creams

7. Cranberries

8. Wheat

And almost 90% of our food intake is acidic by nature.

Alkaline Foods

Alkaline diets prevent the formation of calcium kidney stones, osteoporosis, and age-related muscle wasting.

1. Almonds

2. Yogurt

3. Raw milk

4. Soy milk

5. Wheat grass

6. Germ grass

7. Honey

8. Herbal tea

9. All fruits except Cranberries

10. Melons and Grapes- highly alkaline

Only an alkaline foods diet can insure that this natural alkaline body ph is restored. An alkaline foods diet is completely opposite to what most of us eat today.

The Greener The Vegetable, The More Alkaline

So when looking for alkaline vegetables, go for the greens like broccoli, asparagus, cabbage, wheat grass, lettuce, and so on are high alkaline foods and are highly beneficial to the body.

Vegetables like mushrooms, onions, peas, pepper bells, parsley, radish, cucumber, tomatoes, potatoes with their peels and garlic though not green vegetables are all the same alkaline foods.

But please stay miles away from the highly-acidic foods like animal flesh, processed food, eggplants, fats and even lentils. These acidic foods are really fatal for the body.

Wheat is an acidic food but wheat grass is alkaline.

Similarly raw spinach is alkaline by nature but if you cook it, it gets highly acidic. Milk is also alkaline but only if it is raw. All processed forms of dairy are acidic and are to be avoided.

Alkaline foods prevents from diseases

Many chronic aliments like cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, coronary diseases, migraines, dental problems, depressions, sinusitis, and many such seemingly common illnesses are the result of acidic foods diet that we are used to. Now, do you realize that why do we suffer from such problems throughout our lives.

Needless to say that when we follow an alkaline foods diet our bodies get alkalinized and the acidic levels gets balanced out thus repelling all germs and strengthening the immune system.

For those who are inclined to non vegetarian diet meats are a clear no. For those looking for some protein there is chicken breast, which is alkaline and can be eaten for good health. Other meats are all acidic and should form no more the 20 % of ones diet.

WARNING-
Remember never to eat just alkaline foods, a bit of acid is also required for a balanced diet. the only thing is to keep your acidic food intake very limited.

Alkaline diet is recommended in different variations for different bodies. First go for a reliable source and purchase a pH balance kit. Measure your alkaline content and then go for the alkaline diet accordingly.

What Does An Alkaline Water Filter Do & What Is The Best Home Filtration System For Removing Toxins?

An alkaline water filter can be a valuable addition to your in-home H20 treatment system. While the word “alkaline” may sound like it describes something you decidedly would not want to drink, it actually describes the best type of drinking water.

Alkaline water filters (often sold under the term “ionized water filters”) work by affecting a chemical change on H20. Essentially, the liquid is split into two different types, producing both alkaline and acidic water. The first type actually has smaller H20 clusters in it, which make it easier for the body to absorb it and be hydrated by it. It contains more energizing oxygen, tastes better, and quenches thirst better.

There are other health benefits from this type of drinking liquid. It is said that some of the benefits of drinking alkaline water are lowered blood sugar levels, fewer allergic reactions, protection against free radical damage, and energy increase.

The other byproduct of an alkaline water filter is acidic H20. Acid actually throws the body's pH off and is not good to drink in large quantities, but this acidic liquid is good for washing dishes, shampooing hair, and bathing wounds. It has an astringent, germ-killing quality that makes it very good for these activities.

Alkaline water filters produce H20 that is very good for you and your family. Your household would benefit greatly from installing one in your home to produce the best H20 you can drink and a handy sterilizing liquid for personal grooming and washing.

However, an alkaline water filter needs to be used in conjunction with other purifying products and is best used in a multi-step H20 purifying system that is able to remove all contaminants and microbes from your drinking supply. The word “filter” is somewhat confusing, because the process of splitting H20 into two different streams does not really strain out anything. This is a chemical process, not a filtration process.

You may end up with water that tastes better and is better able to hydrate, but your main concern is to have safe, sanitized H20 first. Once it has been purified of all unwanted elements, then you can work on making it more beneficial and easier to absorb.

This is why most alkaline water filters come with carbon or another type of filtration element that is able to strain out impurities. A good H20 treatment system will have several steps to it. There should be at least two filtration elements such as carbon or ceramic which blocks all unwanted particles and chemicals. Having more than one filter makes it certain that no stray chemical manages to slip past and end up in your glass. Once the H20 is perfectly clean and safe, an alkaline water filter makes it even more beneficial and delicious.

Any good H20 treatment system will produce sanitized and safe drinking liquid. Alkaline water filters go one step further and make what you drink full of oxygen and easier to absorb, filling your glass with life and energy up to the brim. Purchase an alkaline water filter as part of your overall H20 treatment program and see the benefits in your health and the health of your loved ones.

Acid Vs Alkaline Diet

Our body’s internal system needs a PH of just above 7.0; our immunologic, enzymatic and repair mechanisms all function at their best in this alkaline range.
If our body becomes over acidic, i.e. under a PH of 7, you may start to experience a combination of these symptoms;
Low energy, fatigue
Nasal congestion
Hives
Muscle Pain
Weak nails, dry skin, dry hair
Frequent colds, flu and infection
Headaches

If you have these symptoms and eat foods which create acid in the body, you may need to balance it with an alkaline diet.
What foods cause acid in the body?
There is a whole list of foods that cause the body to be over-acidic: dairy and dairy substitutes, animal meat, most grains, chickpeas, condiments, aspartame, prunes, chocolate, peanuts, alcohol and quite a few other types of foods.

To balance your PH, the remedy is simple and logical; eat more alkaline causing foods. To name but a few of these foods, there is; watermelon, lime, mango, most vegetables, vegetable juices, almonds, sprouts, avocados and green tea.

When you’re body becomes more alkaline, the changes that will take place are truly amazing! It will seem magical, but it’s all perfectly normal. You will feel how we all have the right to feel, we just don’t know it.

Benefits include:
Rapid weight loss
Increased energy
The need for less sleep
Improved skin and hair condition
Better mental attitude

Are these benefits worth pursuing? I think so, and you are crazy if you don’t agree with me! Fortunately, it is not hard to slowly alkalise your body. Take it one day at a time, add more and more green food to your diet, reduce the number of cups of coffee you have every day and you’ll soon reap the benefits.

Getting Alkaline-7 Cool Shortcuts

The concept of "Getting Alkaline" is not the latest health fad, or some trend that will disappear any time soon. It is gaining traction consistently and methodically in the marketplace, and the concept is so fundamental and common sense to health conscious people that they usually have an aha! experience as soon as they hear about it.

So what is it, and how do you do it? Well, the concept is based on the Acid Alkaline balance. The acid alkaline scale starts at 0 and goes to 14. 7 is Neutral, lower than 7 is acidic, and above 7 is alkaline. Babies are born slightly alkaline, at 7.365 on the scale. But as we grow and are exposed to acidic foods, stress, pollution, chemicals and even natural acids like lactic acid, our bodies become acidic. Everything we eat and drink has either an acid or alkalizing effect.

Think of it like a bank account and everything you take into your body is either an alkaline deposit or an acidic withdrawal. For example, soda is a huge withdrawal; green and yellow vegetables and alkaline water are excellent deposits.

When our body is acidic bad things happen. Diseases flourish in acidic environments. Some doctors and nutritionists believe that maintaining a healthy PH balance makes you immune to diseases, even cancer. In his book "Alkalize or Die" Dr. Theodore A. Baroody claims: The countless names of illnesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all come from the same root cause...too much tissue acid waste in the body.

Eating an alkaline diet offers benefits like:

-Your body will adjust to its natural weight -You will have increased energy -Better sleep patterns -You will gain lean muscle -Drastically lower risk of illness (some claim you can't get sick at all!)

So how do you do it? Here are 7 cool shortcuts to help you get there:

1. Get a PH test kit and measure your PH level regularly. Just by measuring regularly you start to see patterns, and know what things affect your body either positively or negatively. These test kits are inexpensive, and are readily available at your local health food store.

2. Add alkaline water to your diet. This has had more impact for me personally than any other single thing. Hydration itself is critical to getting alkaline, and most people don't drink enough water. Those that do drink lots of water would get a huge boost in alkalinity they drank alkaline water. To determine how much water you should be drinking, just divide your body weight in two and drink that many ounces of alkaline water a day. In other words, a 180 pound man should drink at least 90 ounces of water a day. Then add an alkalizing supplement, and watch how quickly you see positive health improvements!

3. Start each day with a glass of fresh lemon juice. Just take a lemon or two and squeeze the juice into a glass of water. Although lemons are acidic, they have a strong alkalizing effect on your body, as well as good digestive benefits. A little tart at first, but once you're used to it you will learn to love it!

4. Just add salad. Add a salad to your lunch and dinner every day. Spinach salad is particularly good, but almost all green and yellow vegetables are alkalizing. Also, adjust the portion size on your plate. Cut down on the meat, potatoes and gravy, and increase the serving size of your veggies. Not hard to do, but it makes a big difference.

5. Cut back on refined sugar. We already know sugar isn't good for us, but it also causes acidity in our bodies. Did you know a gram of sugar is what's in the little sweetener packs in restaurants? Understanding that, become a label reader, and check how many grams of sugar are in what you're about to eat. For instance, Kellogg's Smart Start cereal (advertised as a very healthy cereal) contains 16 grams of sugar. Can you even imagine starting with an unsweetened cereal and putting 16 of those coffee sweeteners on it?! I doubt it! Start checking how many grams of sugar are in the things you eat- you're in for a big surprise.

6. Add "Super Alkalizers" to your alkaline diet:

-Greens like Kale, Mustard Greens, and Broccoli -Millet or Quinoa instead of wheat -Fish and lamb over beef -Olive oil instead of other vegetable oils -Miso broth. Just dissolve one teaspoon of miso into a cup of hot, not boiling water. -Use fresh garlic in your cooking

7. Add supplements. Enzymes, ionic form minerals, and vitamins A and D are particularly good at helping the body maintain a healthy pH level.

These 7 shortcuts are much more powerful than any diet fad, they are easy to do, and can deliver dramatic, long term health improvements in a very short time.

The Mystery of Acid and Alkaline Ph

The notion of acid and alkaline is one of the most misunderstood concepts in nutrition. It is commonly referred to as terrain medicine, a reference to treating the whole individual. It has been established that PH in the blood, saliva, urine, and other areas is a critical factor for building health.

How can you determine an acid or alkaline condition?

Blood work, saliva tests, hair analysis, muscle resistance and urine are just some of the tests being recommended by current nutrition experts. Most of these tests can show relative amounts of acid or alkaline, which is very interesting to compare.

But what people do not know is that there are so many varieties of acid and alkaline appearing in the system that to get any conclusive results about acid and alkaline status. It is still best to read the intracellular fluid—a test rarely performed.

Most current diagnostic tests show the acid wastes are present in the body fluids such as blood, lymph, urine, mucus and saliva. The problem with such tests is that they do not show how much acid waste is within the cellular fluids since these fluids are running through tissues and removing acid wastes.

It might be possible to measure the relative acid or alkalinity of body fluids. But it is rare and more complicated to evaluate the acid or alkaline quality of body tissues such as skin, organs, glands, muscles, ligaments, arteries, and vessels. The majority of standard tests focus mainly on saliva, urine, or blood.

What does all these mean?

The tissue quality of skin, organs, glands, muscles, ligaments, arteries, and vessels is the determining factor of your health. When acid wastes are not eliminated, they are reabsorbed through the colon, gets filtered through the liver, and end up being re-released into the general circulation. Simply means that you are re-circulating waste, when it is supposed to be cleansed and rejuvenated already.

Even measuring a person's blood for acid and alkaline variations is not an easy task. When acid is introduced into the blood, alkaline minerals from other parts of the body are immediately mobilized to maintain a crucial pH balance of 7.35 to 7.45. The blood cannot tolerate elevated acidity. It must alkalize.

To do this, it goes on an alkaline borrowing spree immediately, with no intention of paying back the bone, tissue, and digestive juice mineral donors. This means that to do a blood test for an accurate acid and alkaline reading, testing would require your doctor to take blood samples at numerous intervals throughout the day and only after eating one particular food to obtain a good reading.

Very exhausting, costly, and still not that reliable.

A number of nutrition writers suggest testing acid and alkaline levels with litmus paper (saliva) or urinalysis sticks (urine). Determining acid and alkaline though pH testing is assumptive, simplistic, and misleading.

Saliva or urine is not reflective of your overall acidity. Such arbitrary and unpredictable testing does not read the cellular fluid or tissue quality of skin, organs, glands, muscles, ligaments, arteries, and vessels. It can only give in a partial evaluation.

The proof of your body's acid and alkaline condition can best be determined by your own experience, not by peer-reviewed studies, medical establishment support, or static dietary guidelines.

Without getting too technical, the most practical advice would be to experiment for several weeks with a food plan that stays close to the middle of the acid and alkaline scale. Check out some diet that is high on both. You will notice dramatic and positive changes that can only be attributed to your experiment. This will be your best doctor.

Also, the negative symptoms associated with excess acidity are probably infinite. It is not the symptoms that needed to be addressed. It is also not the root cause, the way you eat, or exposure to stress and its effect on blood chemistry, resistance, and daily strength.

Acid and alkaline nutritional research should become a valid foundation for determining dietary safety and healing protocols. Maybe in the near future, medicine and nutritional experts will finally give more focus and emphasis on the importance of acid and alkaline. People have not seen what they do and what they can do to the body just yet.

Alkalinity = Good Health! Is Your Body Acidic or Alkaline?

Water is Critical to Your Good Health
Your body is designed to be approx. 70% water. The most critical fluid in your body, your blood, is mostly water. Your muscles, skin, and vital organs all contain and need large amounts of water for optimal health. Water also transports oxygen to your cells, delivers nutrients, removes waste, and provides energy to the body.

Signs of Dehydration
Your body loses approx. 2.5 liters of water every day just through normal bodily functions. You lose water through urination, respiration, and perspiration. If you are physically active or athletic, you lose even more water. Although “thirst” is an obvious sign of dehydration, the TRUTH is your body is in need of water long before you feel thirsty.

Symptoms of mild dehydration include chronic pains in joints and muscles, lower back pain, headaches, and constipation. A strong odor to your urine, along with a yellow or amber color indicates that you are not getting enough water.

Is Your Body Acidic?
Some of the symptoms associated with acidic conditions in the body include weight loss problems, insomnia, water retention, arthritis, migraine headaches, constipation, colds, flu, stomach ulcers, acid reflux and even cancer. Many health experts agree that an overly acidic body greatly diminishes the effectiveness of your immune system and usually leads to disease.

Acidic conditions in the body are caused by: junk food, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, sodas, coffee, sports drinks, alcohol, environmental toxins, and stress. Considering this long list of items that can lead to acidic challenges in our body, it becomes very clear why it is so important to drink an alkaline beverage every day.

WHY pH balance is critical to your health
In order for the body to maintain optimal health, it needs to manage a very narrow pH range (slightly alkaline) - especially in the blood. In fact, the body will go to almost any length necessary to maintain your blood pH at 7.34 – 7.45 because anything outside that pH range could result in death.

The process of restoring pH balance in your body always includes proper diet and nutrition. This means eating alkalizing foods (vegetables, low sugar fruits, etc.) and getting proper nutritional supplementation. However, the foundation of healthy pH balance is in drinking plenty of alkaline water.

Measuring Acid/ Alkaline Balance:
Scientists can determine if a liquid is alkaline or acidic by simply testing the “pH” of that liquid. “pH” means “potential hydrogen.” The pH scale range is from 0-14 with 7 being “neutral.” Readings below 7 are acidic and readings above 7 are alkaline. A one-point decrease on the pH scale represents that a liquid is 10 times more acidic. For example, a drop from 7.0 (neutral) to 2.0 means a liquid is 100,000 times more acidic to your body!

Why We Must Use Alkaline Water For Health Benefits

Proper hydration of alkaline water plays a critical role in the alkaline diet for your health.

Water is an essential and the major component of all living matter, and the largest single component of our bodies. Water is the one substance (other than oxygen) that we must absolutely have if we are to survive.

You need to learn to recognize and identify the signs of dehydration. Learn how to hydrate properly and what kinds of alkaline waters to use for maximum health benefits. Identify how much alkaline water you need to drink, and set a schedule for increasing your water intake to get there.

The purpose of alkaline water for you health is not only hydration, but also to help flush the body of acidic wastes and toxins. Believe it or not, there are different kinds of water to drink. A closer look at your favorite supermarket's water section will present you with many options: mountain spring water, drinking water, distilled water, carbonated water, just to name a few.

So which once should you use?

Let's remember the reason we want to increase our alkaline water intake: to remove impurities, toxins and acids from our health system and to provide pur water for our bodies to use.

When dietary and other factors cause an overly acidic condition in our bloodstream, the body is forced to either eliminate or to store away acidic wastes in order to restore our body's critical pH health balance.

The water we drink should help us slow the process of acidic health build up by removing it, not by adding to it.

So, we must choose only pure water with an alkaline pH for maximum health.

It is so critical that we alkalize our water that we drink for health reasons. To find out more about this, feel free to checkout this free alkaline diet/water health resource: http://acidalkalinediet.com

Alkaline Diet - How to Balance the pH Level and Reduce Body Acids

Alkaline Lifestyle - Why is it Important?

Why change to an alkaline lifestyle? Because our bodies are constantly over-acidified! Due to our modern lifestyles we eat too much acid-producing food like dairy, sugar and animal protein, and expose our bodies to pollution, smoking, drugs and excessive intake of foods. We are fouling our bodies with any number of transgressions which compromise the balance of our internal alkaline fluids. And all this causes acid wastes to build up in the body!

The pH level, the acid-alkaline measurement of our body, affects every single one of our cells. A constantly imbalanced pH level won?t be tolerated by our system, which may result in obesity (we create fat cells to carry acids away from our vital organs), allergies (the absorption of undigested proteins due to an overly acidic body is a major cause of allergy conditions) and fatigue (an over-acidified body produces toxins and weakens the body?s ability to produces enzymes and hormones). If left untreated, a chronically over-acidic body will disturb and interrupt cellular activities and functions, and will let us age early.

Eat More Greens & Vegetables!

To reverse this process we must include generous amounts of alkaline forming food in our diet. But what is the best way to change easily to an alkaline diet? As mother always said: Eat more salad, greens and vegetables, at best 5x a day! She is right, since this is the only real and healthy nutrition for us humans. Particularly important for us is the green plant pigment chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the only known and existing substance that is able to transform sunlight into eatable energy ? a process, without there would not be life on this planet! In other words: we ?eat sunlight? when we eat salad, greens and vegetables.

Yet, our daily lifestyles don?t allow us to eat 5x a day healthy greens. Therefore, anybody who wants to alkalize the cell system and cares about health and healthy lifestyles, should consider the intake of sprouted greens and vegetables capsules or powder (e.g. SuperGreens by InnerLight), which allow us to maintain our daily habits - but to consume enough greens to satisfy both our body and our mothers. These kinds of supplements help to support an alkaline diet, balance pH Levels, eliminate acid wastes from the body and restore the overall health.

The 3 Dangers Of The Alkaline Diet

The alkaline diet is becoming more popular that even the South Beach diet and other trendy ways of losing weight.

It might be because it is highly effective, and besides letting you return to your optimal weight, following an alkalizing diet will boost your energy levels and overall feelings of well being.

Like all things in life, there are dangers in following the alkaline diet, and you should pay attention to avoid the three biggest pitfalls.

First, never eat just alkaline foods. The body has some need for acidic foods, and if you were to go extreme, and consume only foods that become alkaline in your body, you might deprive your body of some essentials.

Second, the alkalizing diets do not address essential nutrients. If you are following an alkaline system strictly, you might be failing to pay attention to things like Omega 3 (DHA), and other essential fatty acids. You absolutely need good nutrition, and should make sure you have a balanced diet that includes foods from all the major food groups (cutting down on meats and dairies, of course).

Third, do not poison yourself! This might sound extreme, but that is what is happening when you drink water from plastic bottles and even from the kitchen tap. You need to pay attention to the toxins around you, and to minimize your intake of things that are not good for you.

That includes some of the alkalizing products you find on the web, too. Make sure you buy from a reputable source, and get yourself a Ph test kit, to make sure you can measure the impact of any products you decide to try.

Going alkaline is an exciting way to add energy to your life, and to bring back those feelings of youth. Avoid these pitfalls, and you might experience the tremendous results others are having.

The Acid Alkaline Diet For Optimum Health Restore Your Health By Creating Balance In Your Diet

The acid alkaline diet for optimum health restore your health by creating balance in your diet!

The issue of acid-alkaline balance (or pH balance) is comparatively new.

This is an exciting fresh way to reduce your weight by improving the quality of your life. A new weight loss plan that displays how anybody can lose weight with this tested plan.

Are you thinking this is only some new crazy diet?

This unbelievable new diet plan is being used by celebrities and beautiful people all over! A new and enlightened approach to weight loss and dieting that in reality works.

An imbalance can affect our health, ranging from, chronic fatigue, small skin irritations, back pain, and depression to arthritis, ulcers, and osteoporosis.

Majority of people consume a copiousness amount of highly processed foods that acidify the body and, as a result, are troubled with several of these ailments. A simple change in your diet will restore your acid-alkaline balance which will result in an immense improvement in your health.

The speculation behind an alkaline diet is that since our body's pH level is somewhat alkaline, usually ranging between 7.36 to 7.44, our diet should theorize this and also be somewhat alkaline.

However; our bodies are imbalanced because our diets are excessive in acidic foods such as sugar, caffeine, processed foods and animal proteins, and this will disrupt this balance.

If not helped it can deplete the body of alkaline minerals such as potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium, this will make you very prone to chronic and degenerative diseases.

So if you want to sort out your body and you want to enjoy optimum health, you need balanced amounts of both alkaline substances and acids.

Here are some great guideline tips to get you started;

* Hydrate consistently. Drink as much water as you can, ideally at least 8 glasses a day.

* Avoid Coffee, tea, soda and other acidic drinks.

* Avoid Foods with preservatives, food colouring and additives. * Avoid all artificial sweeteners!

* Keep vegetables ready in your fridge to nibble on all through the day or take them to the office to snack on.

* Nuts and grains, also snack on these. You can have as many as you like because they are not acidic, as long as they aren't salted or dry roasted of course!

So get to it, the weight loss begins here...Terri-Leigh Bennett http://www.definite-articles.info/weight-loss

7 Ways to Make Alkaline Diet Benefit You

The premise of an alkaline diet is that the nutrients found in supplements, alkalizing foods, and water can bring the body back to balance. These vitamins, minerals, and herbs infuse the body with new energy, vitality, and better health.

Alkaline foods and water must be consumed in order to provide nutrients the body needs to neutralize acids and toxins in the blood, lymph, tissues, and cells.

When pH balance inside the body is 'out of balance' the body tries to correct that sensitive pH balance. That process shows up as uncomfortable symptoms, including colds, flues, allergies, diseases, viruses, and bacteria.

When the pH level in our body is unbalanced, almost any area of the body can be affected. For example when the nervous system is effected as the result of unbalanced pH balance it shows up in the form of the depression. When cardiovascular system is effected we could have heart disease or experience other heart-related problems, including thickening and hardening of the arteries, coronary heard disease, pain or discomfort in the chest, stroke, high blood pressure, and heart failure. When muscles are effected we often feel fatigue and lack of energy. When skin is effected by improper pH balance we age quicker than normal.

When the body's pH level is in balance, the body reaches ideal weight and corrects negative health challenges naturally.

Transition to a more alkaline healthy diet requires a shift in attitude towards food. The important point to remember is that small changes go a long way. Add more alkaline foods to your diet gradually.

7 Sure-fire ways to make alkaline diet benefit you:

1) Reduce the consumption of sugar and products made from sugar, including soda pop, pies, ice cream, jello, jams & jellies, artificial juices, puddings, doughnuts, corn syrups, chewing gum, sweetened drinks, cookies, breakfast cereals, liqueurs, mixed drinks. 2) Avoid processed foods and condiments including ketchup, salad dressings, pickles, luncheon meats, canned fruits, breads, relish, cheese dips, peanut butter, prepared seafood, frozen vegetables, crackers, canned soups, hot dogs, sausages, sweetened yogurt.

3) Avoid cooking and heating foods and drinks in microwave.

4) Avoid dairy, meats, fried foods and fast foods.

5) Increase your consumption of raw vegetables and raw fresh fruits (without sugar). You should include raw vegetables in every meal. If your breakfast is so small that you only eat toast or cereal, stop eating toast and take fresh fruits or vegetable juices instead. If your lunches are usually consist of sandwiches try to substitute it with a raw salad or a vegetable juice. Have a large salad before you eat a heavy entree at dinner. This way, you will be sure to eat all of the salad instead of finding yourself too full to finish it.

6) Grains form the base of a balanced diet and are important in maintaining the alkaline balance in the body. Grains are great source of vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients, including folic acid, fiber, carbohydrates antioxidants and phytoestrogens. The Department of Food and Science and Nutrition at University of MInnesota determined that consumption of whole grains reduces the risk of chronic diseases including cancer and cardiovascular disease. By eating grains you can eat less but feel full. Grains should comprise about 20% of your diet.

7) Don't forget to hydrate. Drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of good quality of water each day. Add liquid minerals to increase the quality of water.

If you follow these easy 7 steps it will allow you to create the proper alkaline balance within your body.

Creating the proper alkaline balance within your body will bring you increased quality of life. You'll start seeing immediate improvements in your health. Your energy will increase, your concentration will be stronger. You'll build strength, stamina, and resistance to diseases. Your entire body will function more efficiently just like it was meant to do.

The Acid-Alkaline Debate-Part 1-Does Your Body's pH Cause Cancer and Other Diseases

Understanding your bodys pH and its effect on your health is a critical component for a successful anti aging strategy. In fact, some would consider your bodys pH the single most important item to pay attention to for both optimal health and disease prevention. Over the next several articles we are going to look at this health issue, try to make sense of it, and give you a plan of action. But before I get into the details, let me set the stage for this discussion.

With a 60% Increase in Life Expectancy, Why Do We Rank 48th in the World
In the early 1900s the life expectancy in the United States was under 50 years of age. Over the last 100 years our life expectancy has increased to approximately 80 years of age, a 60% increase. Most experts in this area would attribute this increase to lower infant mortality, better diet, and improved hygiene. However, an interesting trend is occurring. With all the medicine and prescription drugs available to us today, especially here in the United States, we are continuing to move down on the life expectancy charts when compared to other countries. We are currently 48th in life expectancy. To highlight this trend, the health risks from obesity have now overtaken the health risks from cigarettes. We are literally eating and drinking our way to an earlier death and creating an environment that leads to an increased risk of disease.

Why Can Certain Cultures Live Relatively Cancer Free And We Cant
The Hunza people frequently live to between 120 to 140 years of age and, for the most part, remain healthy. In 1904 only 1 out of 24 Americans developed cancer in their lifetime. Currently, the cancer rate is 50% for men and 60% for women. For the year 2006, it is expected that nearly 1.4 million Americans will have been diagnosed with cancer and more than 550,000 will have died from it. Granted most of the people back in 1904 didnt live past 50 but is there a common cause for cancer and many of the diseases that are impacting our society today Let me share with you the following quotes:

It is natural for physicians to focus on treatment. A far better focus is prevention.
Giulio J. DAngio, M.D., former Chairman of the Department of Radiation Therapy, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Each time a patient comes in and needs cancer therapy, you could say it was a failure of prevention.
Dr. Samuel Broder, former Director of the National Cancer Institute

Knowledge is the Precursor to Prevention!
Notice the common theme for each of these prominent doctors. The theme is prevention. Prevention is taking the steps before hand to prevent something from occurring. If we want to prevent cancer, or certainly reduce our risk from cancer, then we need to educate ourselves and then take the necessary steps to apply that information. Most people want the federal government, the managed health care industry, the pharmaceutical companies, the food manufacturers, and the fast food chains to come up with the solution. Prevention starts with you and ends with you! As Dr. C. Everett Koop, former Surgeon General of the United States, said, The best prescription is knowledge. I want to help give you that knowledge.

The Great Debate!
The Acid - Alkaline Debate is one of the central issues in this increased health risk from cancer.
And, as you gain knowledge in this area, you will also see how it affects obesity, diabetes, heart disease and a whole host of other health issues. To understand The Acid - Alkaline Debate we will need to understand pH and a little Chemistry 101. Im going to try to make this easy to understand.

The pH Scale as a Measure of Your Health!
The pH scale measures the degree of acidity or alkalinity of a substance and ranges from 0 to 14:

 0 is complete acid
 0 to 6.99 is acidic
7 is neutral or the perfect balance between acid and alkaline
 7.01 to 14 is alkaline
 14 is complete alkaline

The lower on the scale below 7 the more acidic something is and the higher on the scale above 7 the more alkaline something is.

Got Math
Now this is what gets most people confused. The pH scale is not arithmetical but logarithmic. Logarithmic means that the values separating each unit are not of equal value along the scale but increases in proportion to their distance from a pH of 7. For example, a pH reading of 6 is 10 times more acidic than 7, but a pH of 5 is not 20 times more acidic but 100 times more acidic. If youre catching on, then a pH reading of 4 is 1000 times more acidic than a pH of 7. Given this fact, what would seem like a small change in pH and be no big deal is, in reality, a big deal to your body.

Although some organs and organ fluids (like the gastric region) have a higher or lower pH than what is normal for the body, your body functions best when the pH of the internal biochemical environment (your blood, lymph and intracellular fluids) is between 7.365 and 7.390. If you understand the pH scale above, then you can see that the body likes to keep itself slightly alkaline and in a very narrow range. Anything outside this range causes stress on the body. The farther outside this range, then the stress on the body goes up exponentially. Although a person may occasionally become alkalosis (a reading higher than 7.390), most people lean toward becoming acidosis because of the food they eat. This acidification of the internal terrain of the body has been directly and indirectly linked to the following ailments:

Lack of Energy or Chronic Fatigue
Poor Circulation, High Blood Pressure and Heart Disease
Weight Gain or Loss and Obesity
 Irritability, Nervousness and Leg Cramps
Inflammation, Joint Fatigue, Arthritis, Rheumatism and Gout
Gastro Intestinal Disorders, Acid Reflux and Irregular Bowel Movements
 Diabetes and Kidney Stones
 Allergies and Skin Disorders
 Osteoporosis, Candida and Cancer

Although this isnt a complete list it does give you a picture of how acidity can affect your body. In fact, if you Google search death by disease you will find a strong correlation between the two lists. Some people will go so far as to say that an acidic body is a breeding ground for all disease, that no disease can exist in an alkaline environment, and the primary cause of cancer is lack of oxygen and an acidic environment. In reviewing the literature for this article I cannot completely endorse those statements. But it is quite clear that an acidic environment creates a much more favorable environment for diseases of all types to flourish.

So, how do you know if youre a walking flask of acid and are creating the potential environment for disease Ill cover that in Part 2 of The Acid  Alkaline Debate!

Health Implications of Acid - Alkaline Imbalance

Have you ever checked your body's pH? Do you know what body pH is and how it plays an important role in good health? Do you suffer from acidosis? Many people never ask themselves these questions. Yet, body pH plays an important role in maintenance of your body' many intricate systems.

Acidity and alkalinity are measured according to the pH scale. Pure water, with a pH of 7.0, is considered neutral. Any substance with a pH below 7.0 is acid, while anything with a pH above 7.0 is alkaline. The ideal pH range for the human body is between 6.0 and 6.8 (slightly acid). For the body, values below pH 6.3 are considered on the acidic side. Values above pH 6.8 are on the alkaline side.

You can obtain a pH test kit and determine your own body pH by doing a self test. This test will determine whether your body fluids are either too acidic or too alkaline. Apply saliva or urine to litmus paper. The paper will change color to indicate if your system is overly acidic or alkaline. Red litmus paper turns blue in an alkaline medium and blue litmus paper turns red in an acidic medium. Always perform the test either before you eat or at least one hour after eating. If your test indicates that your body is too acidic, consult the recommendations for Acidosis.

Acidosis is a condition in which the body chemistry is imbalanced and overly acidic. Symptoms of acidosis include frequent sighing, insomnia, water retention, recessed eyes, arthritis, migraine headache, abnormally low blood pressure, acid or strong perspiration, dry hard stools, foul smelling stools accompanied by a burning sensation in the anus, alternating constipation and diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, halitosis, a burning sensation in the mouth and / or under the tongue, sensitivity of the teeth to vinegar and acidic fruits, and bumps on the tongue or the roof of the mouth.

There are two classifications of acidosis: respiratory and metabolic. Respiratory acidosis is caused by an interruption of the acid control of the body and results in an overabundance of acidic fluids or the depletion of alkali. Simply put, it occurs if the lungs are unable to remove carbon dioxide. Respiratory acidosis can be a result of asthma, bronchitis, or obstruction of the airway. It can be mild or severe.

Metabolic acidosis is caused by chemical changes in the body which disturb the acid-base balance. This results in an excessive amount of acid in the body fluids. Diabetes mellitus, kidney failure, the use of unusually large amounts of aspirin and metabolic diseases are some of the conditions that can deplete the body's alkaline base. Other contributing factors can include liver and adrenal disorders, stomach ulcers, improper diet, malnutrition, obesity, ketosis, anger, stress, fear, anorexia, toxemia, fever and the consumption of excessive amounts of niacin and vitamin C.

Guidelines for avoiding or reducing pH imbalance include:

1. Practice deep breathing.

2. Eat a diet of 50 percent raw foods including apples, avocados, bananas, bilberries, blackberries, grapefruit, grapes, lemons, pears, pineapple, strawberries, and all vegetables. Fresh fruits, especially citrus fruits and vegetables reduce acidosis. Start with small amounts of citrus fruits and gradually add larger amounts.

3, Chew your food slowly, and do not overindulge. Make sure food is mixed well with saliva. Do not drink fluids during meals.

4. Prepare cooked foods with care. Maintain clean working surfaces and wash vegetables and fruit. Keep meat and vegetables separate you can contaminate vegetables with bacteria from raw meat. Do not overcook vegetables, as this makes them lose flavor and nutritional value. Eat processed foods in moderation. They are low in nutrients and overexert the digestive system. Both cooked and processed foods tend to make the body more acidic. Also avoid eating late at night.

5. Drink potato broth every day.

6. Avoid animal protein, especially beef and pork, as they contribute to acidity.

7. Avoid beans, cereals, crackers, eggs, flour products, grains, oily foods, macaroni, and sugar. Plums, prunes, and cranberries do not oxidize and therefore remain acid to the body. Avoid these until the situation improves.

8. Since excess vitamin C may lead to acidosis, reduce your intake of vitamin C for a few weeks. When taking larger does of vitamin C, use a non-acid form.

9. Heartburn and indigestion can result from poor digestion. If you suffer from heartburn, taking small swallows of a teaspoon or two of natural cider vinegar in a glass of water may be of some help. It may cause a burning sensation when you swallow it, but then, in approximately twenty minutes, you should feel relief. If this helps it may indicate you lack sufficient acid in your stomach and the vinegar compensated. In this case, consider taking a digestive enzyme supplement containing hydrochloric acid (HCL).

Check your urine pH daily and avoid acid forming foods until your pH is corrected.

ACID Forming Foods include:

Alcohol, asparagus, beans, brussels sprouts, buckwheat, catsup, chickpeas, cocoa, coffee, cornstarch, cranberries, eggs, fish, flour and flour-based products, legumes, lentils, meat, milk, mustard, noodles, oatmeal, olives, organ meats, pasta, pepper, plums, poultry, prunes, sauerkraut, shellfish, soft drinks, sugar and all foods with sugar added.

Acidosis, if allowed to go unchecked, can adversely affect health. Fortunately, it is easily detected and, it can be avoided or corrected if found.

"Correct your acid / alkaline balance with the water you drink: what the experts say"

In health circles there has been much recent talk about acid /alkaline imbalance. Let's see if we can clarify how experts recommend we correct this imbalance.

The problem
Your body functions best when neither too acid nor too alkaline. Unfortunately almost all of us have become acidic due to diet, drinks and stress -- both psychological and from pollution. Acids can build up in our body, causing systems to be out of balance.

The effects
According to Dr. Stefan Kuprowsky, "Acid wastes build up in the body in the form of cholesterol, gallstones, kidney stones, arterial plaque, urates, phosphates and sulfates. These acidic waste products are the direct cause of premature aging and the onset of chronic disease."

When this occurs, the body will restore its optimal pH by depleting certain minerals, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium, from organs and bones. In addition, your immune
system may become fatigued from dealing with an excess of acid. Your body then stores acidic wastes in 'hiding places' such as muscles etc. rather than releasing the acids into the
bloodstream.

As Dr.Robert Atkins, the well-known author, health and diet expert, notes: "Just about every condition I can think of, from arthritis to diabetes to cancer, is associated with acidity."

"The countless names of illnesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all come from the same root cause...too much tissue acid waste in the body!" Theodore A. Baroody, ND, Ph.D.

What can be done?
A vast body of research reveals that you can help neutralize acid build-up in the blood and maintain a balanced pH, by taking some simple steps, such as:

-- Exercise
-- Avoiding highly acid-forming food and drink
-- Drinking the right water

What is the "right" water?
"International studies show that populations with little or no history of illness, such as cancer, drink higher pH (alkaline) waters. After all potential risk factors were considered and factored out, it became evident that they had been drinking
waters with a pH of 9.0 to 10.0." Dr. Leonard Horowitz in "Aids and Ebola"

Alkaline ionized water "first came to notice in Japan, where researchers noted that people drinking water that came from certain fast- moving rocky mountain streams enjoyed
extraordinarily good health. It turned out that this naturally occurring water was alkaline and had a different structure and electrical properties." Larry Clapp, PhD. in "Prostate Health in
90 days"

Alkaline water is produced at home with a small kitchen appliance called a water ionizer (long in use in Japan and Korea). As water ionizers have become popular in North America, more health professionals have had the opportunity to evaluate their effects on clients:

Sue Pollock, N.D. writes, we can "assist the body in being more alkaline with ...drinking alkaline water."

"I believe that the best water is water that is alkaline (reduced) and purified using a small device known as a water ionizer." (Dr. Stefan Kuprowsky)

"It is my opinion that ionized water will change the way in which all health practitioners and the public approach their health in the coming years." Dr. T. Baroody in "Alkalize or Die."

Why not just rely on a change of diet?
According to Sang Whang, researcher and author of "Reverse Aging", the danger is that we might omit important foods:

"Since the waste products that we are trying to discharge are acidic, the right kind of water is alkaline water...My personal recommendation is to enjoy the foods that we like, but do not
over-eat or exclude any food. Eat in moderation following the professional dieticians' "balanced diet" concept, and let alkaline water do the job of cleansing acidic wastes."
