Easily Improve Your Health With An Alkaline Diet

 

Because of factors like diet and stress, many people in the industrialized world have bodies that are too acidic and over-burdened with toxins, and so are afflicted with health problems that run the gamut from minor and major skin irritations to depression, chronic fatigue and back pain to arthritis, ulcers, osteoporosis and cancer.

Just consider the following facts:

• Diseased bodies are unbalanced, having a high concentration of acidity in their tissues and the blood. And yet the absence of this balance is rarely noticed by our standard medical tests. So tests may show you are fine, but you feel otherwise.

• The #1 cause of excess acidity is waste products left behind by incomplete digestion. We need hydrochloric acid to digest our food. The more difficult a food is to digest, the more acid is required to digest it.

• In general difficult-to-digest means acid-forming, and easy-to-digest means alkaline.

Notes: 1) Dairy products vary according to personal situation – for some it is good, for others it is bad. 2) Refined sugar, tea and coffee are not difficult to digest, but if one consumes them liberally then they are very acid-forming and also rob the body of needed nutrients. 3) Onion, garlic and mushroom are not difficult to digest, but they heat up the lower glands, and thus very much disturb the emotions.

Correct Your pH Balance With A Detox And Cleanse - Become More Alkaline Than Acidic

 

The first step in correcting your pH (alkaline-acid) imbalance is to remove debris that has built up in the body over the years from dietary and environmental toxins such as refined foods, processed foods, household chemicals and pollution. Understanding the Types of Soil in Your Garden - Acid, Chalk-Alkaline, Clay and Sand

 

Understanding the different types of soil is essential if you want to create the perfect garden. This is because each variety of plant requires a different type of soil in order to thrive and reward you with lush foliage and dazzling flowers. Some plants are more hardy and can withstand various soil conditions whilst other plants are very fussy about their needs.

Acid Soil

If you have acid soil but want to grow lime-loving plants, you can simply add lime to it. If on the other hand if you have lime soil and want to grow acid-loving plants such as azaleas, then this is most likely impossible if you have chalk or limestone rocks beneath. In such circumstances you will need to build a raised bed.

Chalk/Alkaline Soil

Many people will tell you that acid soil is best, however if you have chalk or alkaline soil then you can still grow plenty of different plants as long as you know what to look for. Amongst the best choices are birch, hawthorn, clematis, buddleia, lilac, roses, bamboo, magnolia and honesty.

Clay Soil

Clay soil definitely has it's plus and minus points. In it's favour, clay can hold nutrients and water for longer. The major problems, however, are that in a drought it becomes too dry and hard to work with, and during a wet spell it becomes too wet to work with. Plants that can be grown include daffodils, elder and roses. Whatever you do, do not mix sand into clay unless you want concrete!

Sandy Soil

Sandy soil is great for gardeners because most plants thrive and it is easy to dig. The only draw-back is that water and fertilizer drains through very quickly so to help avoid this problem, dig in some compost or manure.

There are a number of ways to find out what type of soil is in your garden. If you want to find out right now, have a look at the plants that are growing in your neighbours' gardens and then find out what sort of soil those plants grow in. If you are still unsure, you should buy a soil-testing kit from a garden supply shop.

Christmas is a time of giving and there is no better gift than to give yourself and your family the awesome gift of alkaline water. We know that water sustains all forms of life. We now know that two thirds of our body is water and three quarters of our planet is made up of water! You need to understand that not just any water is good water.

We have all experienced afternoon fatigue blues and they become worse when dehydrated. Most people when feeling tired in the afternoon will reach for coffee, soda or tea. These sugary or caffeine drinks will only create more dehydration. Water is what you want to be reaching out for as it will energize, hydrate you and keep your body functions healthier and less prone to health issues!

We loose about two and a half litres of water a day. Food supplies us with about 20% of our water intake. While researchers tell us that 8 glasses a day are a good measure for our health, we now know that if you are exercising you need to add an extra 1-2 cups per hour to keep hydrated. If you exert more excessive exercise then add 2-3 cups per hour. If your urine is colorless or has a slight color you are probably drinking enough water.

What type of water is best? We know today that often house-hold water running from the tap may be less than adequate containing contaminates. So what is the best water? This has been a topic of major controversy. Should it be alkaline, distilled, reverse osmosis systems or filtered? Research today appears to conclude that alkaline water is the most beneficial. Alkaline water only has benefits compared to the others which have pros and cons. It even has minerals too!

How Alkaline Water will Extend Life and Reduce the Onset of Adult Degenerative Disease

 

We get old and sick due to excess acid in our body. So, it follows if we reduce the acid and increase the alkaline levels we would be healthier and live longer. However, some doctors say that the stomach acid kills the alkalinity so; drinking alkaline water will do no good. Well what about that?

What happens in the stomach when we drink high pH alkaline water? The stomach maintains the pH level at right around 4.0. The more alkaline water we drink the higher the stomach pH goes, sometimes it will rise above 4.5. When this happens the stomach will produce more hydrochloric acid to bring the stomach pH back down to below 4.0.

Hydrochloric acid and sodium bicarbonate is made from water, sodium chloride (table salt) and carbon dioxide. The sodium bicarbonate goes into the bloodstream and the hydrochloric acid goes into the stomach.

The alkaline buffer in our blood is sodium bicarbonate, and it is the alkaline and acid buffers that are constantly monitoring the blood pH to maintain a constant blood pH of 7.365. When the blood becomes too alkaline, the acid buffer goes to work to bring the pH down; and when there is too much alkaline, then the alkaline buffer (sodium bicarbonate) goes to work to raise the pH level.

From Sang Whang, inventor of Alkalife:

“Alkaline buffers are bicarbonate (HCO3-) mated with alkaline minerals. Examples of them are sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3), potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3), calcium bicarbonate (Ca(HCO3)2) and magnesium bicarbonate (Mg(HCO3)2). Acid buffer is mainly carbonic acid (H2CO3), a water and carbon dioxide combination. Carbohydrate completely burnt becomes carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O); therefore there is no shortage of acid buffer.”

It was Lynda Frassetto, University of California, San Francisco, who discovered in 1966 that we lose the alkaline buffer – bicarbonates in our blood as we age. The process seems to begin at age 45 and by 90 we have lost 18% of the bicarbonates in our blood.

When the bicarbonates in our blood are reduced it impairs the body’s ability to neutralize and dump the acid our body produces. It is also at the age of around 45 that symptoms of diabetes, or osteoporosis and other diseases related to the aging process occur. When these acidic wastes are not released from the body and begin to build up, theses wastes take the form of fatty acid, sulfate, phosphate, uric acid, cholesterol, kidney stones, etc.

It is only the water’s pH value that helps the blood receive bicarbonates. It is the most important function of alkaline water since we lose these bicarbonates as we age. When we alkalize our body we increase the ability of our blood to neutralize the acid.

Our world has changed from an organic, agricultural base to one that is industrial and toxic. And because of the greed of our industries a lot of these toxins have found their way into our air, water, food, and alas our bodies. The more pollution, the more stress the more acid. High protein diets and soft drinks also add to the acidity and this is why we lose bicarbonates in the blood as we age.

I argue that the reduction of bicarbonates in the blood is the cause of aging and diseases, not the result of aging. As long as we can replenish bicarbonates in the blood, we don’t have to age!”

To Drink or Not to Drink

Only when the stomach produces hydrochloric acid do bicarbonates enter the bloodstream. So it is best to drink the alkaline water on an empty stomach with the water having a pH level of 9.5 -10. The reason for this is the alkaline will raise the stomach pH relatively high and that will cause the stomach to produce more hydrochloric acid, allowing for more bicarbonates to enter the blood. Alkalizing with Common Sense - The Definitive List of Alkaline Foods

 

So you have decided that you want to alkalize and you have gone and read all there is to read on the subject. The chances are that you are now committed but confused!

Unfortunately, due to the fact that the alkaline diet is not trendy sounding, or particularly sexy and coveted by celebrities we need to communicate the science behind it to achieve buy-in and help people understand the principles and how it works.

However, the bottom line is this - alkalizing is simple and following it only involves doing those things you already know are good for you!

Beginning an Alkaline Diet: The Basic Principles - Start Alkalizing Today!

 

Each and every person living in the UK is facing a myriad of health and lifestyle challenges every day.

We are constantly being fed new information about what is healthy and what is unhealthy while thousands of us try to deal with problems ranging from obesity to fatigue to life threatening diseases.

The alkalarian approach to diet offers a simple, basic understanding of what causes the body to become ‘out of balance’. Through what has become the typical Western diet largely based around meat, dairy, sugars, alcohol, saturated fats and caffeine, millions of us have created a hostile, acidic environment within our bodies.

  • Fruits: ONLY - Lemons, Lime, Grapefruit, Watermelon, Tomato, Avocado - all other fruits to be used quite sparingly
  • Grasses: Wheat, barley, kamut, lemon, shave etc.
  • Sprouts: Alfalfa, mung bean, broccoli, radish, wheat, lentil, fenugreek etc.
  • Dips and Sauces: Pesto, hummus, tahini, guacamole etc.

Foods that Acidify:

  • Sugar
  • Dairy Products
  • Meat (aside from occasional coldwater fish)
  • Caffeine
  • Tobacco
  • Wheat (aside from sprouts or wheatgrass)
  • Fruit (apart from those mentioned above)
  • Bad fats (saturated, transfatty acids, hydrogenated)

  • Fizzy drinks
  • Peanuts and Cashews
  • Pasta and White Rice
  • Condiments
